During the meeting, the two leaders discussed prospects for the development of bilateral relations, including the expansion of political dialogue and the intensification of trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
“We have great respect for your country. Our Embassy in Addis Ababa, which operates on a permanent basis, was one of the first diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan on the African continent. In addition, Kazakhstan is represented in the African Union as an observer. Therefore, our interest in Africa is quite evident and enduring. I would like to reaffirm our unwavering interest in your country, as well as our commitment to developing and strengthening relations with Ethiopia”, said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to the President, there are significant opportunities to increase mutual trade and further intensify business partnership. The two leaders agreed to send delegations from both countries to familiarize themselves with each other’s trade, economic, and investment potential, as well as to explore the prospects of establishing a hub in Kazakhstan for the supply of tea, coffee, and floral products from Ethiopia.

For his part, Abiy Ahmed congratulated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the successful conduct of the elections to the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noting the high level of mutual understanding and constructive cooperation between the two countries.
“Ethiopia is also committed to improving the well-being of its citizens and strengthening the institutional capacity of the state. In this regard, we continue to draw on best practices, including those of friendly countries such as Kazakhstan. As you noted, Kazakhstan already has an embassy in Ethiopia. We will also consider the possibility of opening our embassy in Kazakhstan. I am confident that this will contribute to strengthening and expanding our relations”, the Head of the Ethiopian Government emphasized.
In conclusion, the Head of State invited the Prime Minister of Ethiopia to visit Kazakhstan on an official visit.
