The President of Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Hungary hold talks in a narrow format

November 2, 2023

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.

The talks were preceded by a welcoming ceremony at the Akorda residence. The head of the Guard of Honour gave a welcome report to the President of Kazakhstan and the Prime Minister of Hungary. After the national anthems of the two countries were sung, the leaders proceeded to the hall for a meeting in a narrow format.

The sides thoroughly discussed the state and prospects of development of Kazakh-Hungarian relations with a focus on strengthening political dialogue, deepening trade and economic cooperation and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.

The Kazakh President expressed gratitude to Viktor Orban for his significant contribution to the rapprochement between Kazakhstan and Hungary.

– Mr Prime Minister, welcome to kazakh land! You are well known and respected in Kazakhstan because you are a “Kypshak” by origin. We can say that you have come to the homeland of your ancestors. Thank you for accepting my invitation and paying an official visit to Kazakhstan, as well as taking part in the jubilee summit of the Organisation of Turkic States. Undoubtedly, this visit will give a new impetus to cooperation between the two countries. I am confident that today's negotiations will be fruitful, – said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

In turn, Viktor Orban thanked the President of Kazakhstan for the invitation and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He praised the level of political dialogue and mutually beneficial partnership between Kazakhstan and Hungary.

– It is always a pleasure to return home. Hungarians come to Kazakhstan with great pleasure, because we are linked by thousands of years of common roots. Over the past decade, we have made a lot of efforts to develop our cooperation, and good results have been achieved. It is a great honor for me to cooperate with you. Hungary has always been a reliable strategic partner of Kazakhstan, and it will remain so in the future. Relations between Hungary and Kazakhstan are as good as ever, but the potential, especially in the economy, is still great. We have good prospects, – said the Prime Minister of Hungary.
