President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the important role of the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) in advancing Kazakh-Korean investment cooperation. He noted that Kazakhstan is interested in continuing its engagement with KIND, which participated in the implementation of the Big Almaty Ring Road project.
The meeting focused primarily on the prospects for KIND’s participation in the development of Alatau City. The Head of State noted the project’s significant potential and expressed hope for the active involvement of the Korean side in implementing infrastructure and investment initiatives in the new city. He also called on KIND to participate in the implementation of Kazakhstan’s large-scale plan to modernize its social and transport infrastructure.
In turn, Kim Bok-hwan underscored Kazakhstan’s important role as a key transport and logistics hub of Eurasia and expressed readiness to contribute to strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

The interlocutors also discussed the establishment of a Kazakh-Korean Joint Investment Fund, which is intended to serve as an effective mechanism for attracting Korean capital and technologies to infrastructure and energy projects in Kazakhstan.
Particular attention was paid to the possibility of KIND’s participation in the modernization of the transport and logistics system, including the development of the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, as well as projects for the construction and renovation of regional airports.
As a result of the meeting, the following documents were exchanged: a memorandum of understanding between Caspian Group and KIND; an agreement between the Alatau City Authority and KIND on the development of a master plan for the “Alatau Smart City” project; and a strategic agreement between the Qazaqstan Investment Corporation and KIND.
