Meeting of the Presidential Commission on Anti-Corruption chaired by Kazakhstan’s State Secretary

The meeting discussed the measures taken to ensure transparency and efficiency in using funds allocated for implementing Nurly Zhol infrastructure development program.

Ministry for Investments and Development, the General Prosecutor's Office and the Accounts Committee for Control over the National Budget Execution have made their reports.

Opening the meeting, Gulshara Abdykalikova focused on the words of Nursultan Nazarbayev that "there will be no favours to anyone, and no one can escape punishment if he committed corruption crimes."

Nurly Zhol Program is aimed at continuing structural reforms in the country's economy, developing transit potential and integrating transport infrastructure into the international system.

For example, during the financial control over the legality of using budgetary funds, the state audit bodies discovered violations for KZT 34.3 bln.

Prosecutor's inspections in the agro-industrial sphere revealed 3,5 thousand violations for KZT 15 bln. Suppressed illegal payment of subsidies amounted to KZT 2.6 bln.

Anticorruption service since 2015 on the theft and misuse of funds have initiated 27 criminal cases with billions of damages.

Because of discussion by the Commission, the authorized bodies and subjects of the quasi-public sector are to analyse the violations identified and take appropriate response measures with the development of mechanisms to prevent them from further activities.
